OUR WAY OF LIFE
The mission of St. Paul’s is to be a community of open arms, listening hearts, serving hands, and diverse voices…because we believe that Christ’s love is a commitment not a sentiment.
The St. Paul’s Way of Love
At St. Paul’s, we believe that God’s love changes everything.
The St. Paul’s Way of Love is our roadmap for embracing and sharing this love.
CHRIST-CENTERED WORSHIP
We begin & renew our journey by discovering our place in God’s story through worship and rest.
OPEN ARMS TO EMBRACE
We welcome and embrace people in all of their glory, and we actively nurture relationships across generations.
LISTENING HEARTS TO GROW
We approach Scripture, one another, and the Holy Spirit with curiosity, humility, and compassion.
SERVING HANDS TO BLESS
We seek Christ in friend and stranger and work to be a good steward of creation. We generously share our skills, gifts, and resources in celebration of God’s generosity toward us.
DIVERSE VOICES TO RECONCILE
We connect across differences, learn from one another, and celebrate God’s diversity. We work for the flourishing of all people.
WE BELIEVE
…you matter to God. We also believe…
…Everyone is made in God’s image and beloved of God.
We are committed to the active inclusion and flourishing of people of every education, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, race, ability, or age.
…Jesus is the fullest embodiment of God’s love.
In Christ, we discover God’s character and purpose-the restoration of all of creation. Christ’s kingdom continues through us until he returns to fulfill it.
…Jesus’ love is unstoppable.
When his enemies tried to silence him, Jesus surrendered to their evil in order to prove that nothing will stop God from loving us no matter what we’ve done.
…Nothing could keep Jesus in the grave.
In rising from the dead, Jesus proved that worst thing is not the last thing in our lives. Death, evil, and sin do not have the last word.
…The church is not a club or a building; it’s a community.
We are united as a community of ordinary, imperfect folks made holy through the power of God’s Spirit.
We can’t say it enough: we believe you matter to God. You also matter to us.
THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
The Episcopal Church is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion, a Christian tradition born in sixteenth-century England amid transformative ideas about faith, community, Scripture, and worship. We invite you to discover the practices and traditions that shape our spiritual life today.
BIBLE
Scripture forms the bedrock of our faith. We understand and apply it to our lives through prayerful listening, humility, curiosity, and centuries of tradition and thoughtful reasoning.
BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER
More than a worship manual, the Book of Common Prayer represents the heart of Episcopal tradition. It’s a 500-year-old collection of time-tested prayers and liturgies that bind us together as one faith community across the world. Through its familiar rhythms and ancient prayers, we find both individual devotion and communal connection.
BAPTISMAL COVENANT
The Baptismal Covenant combines our foundational beliefs of God’s movement in the world with five essential questions about living faithfully as Christians in the world. Read more here.
SACRAMENTS
A sacrament is an ordinary thing made holy through the power of God’s Spirit. We are guided by two major sacraments: Baptism & the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Baptism brings us into God’s family and makes us part of a larger story. The Eucharist, which we observe every week, feeds us with Christ’s presence and forms us as disciples. There are five additional spiritual markers (or, sacramental rites that are available to us to support our life: Confirmation, Unction (healing), Reconciliation (confession), Marriage, and Ordination.
