Frequently Asked Questions

I ALREADY GIVE. WHY PLEDGE?

Pledges help us plan our annual budget and ministries with confidence. When we know what to expect, we can make responsible decisions about staffing, programs, and outreach rather than guessing based on unpredictable weekly offerings.

DOESN'T THE WIDER CHURCH FUND US?

No. In the Episcopal Church, each parish is financially independent Instead, we contribute a percentage of our income to support broader Episcopal ministries.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE?

The amount you pledge is a personal decision. The Bible, however, describes a standard of giving one tenth of one’s income to fulfilling the mission of God’s dream, which is a tithe (Genesis 14:17-20 & 28:18-22; Deuteronomy chs. 12, 14, 26; Leviticus 27:30-33). Our rector and a handful of parishioners have made this commitment; others are incrementally working toward it. What’s most important is to establish a level of giving that is meaningful to you so that it is the first and best of all you receive and a reflection of your values and priorities.

HOW DO I FULFILL MY PLEDGE?

You can make lump sum or periodic payments via credit card, check, or IRA withdrawals. Contact the office if you need help setting up automatic withdrawals from your bank or through our secure online portal.

DOES MY GIVING AFFECT MY STANDING AT ST. PAUL’S?

No. Your presence and participation in worship, fellowship, service, pastoral care, or anything else are not conditioned upon your pledge. Pledging, however, is one way to embody our commitment to each other as one body in Christ.

WHAT IF I CAN'T FULFILL MY PLEDGE?

Things can happen over a year: job loss, illness, moves. We understand this. If you find you can’t meet part of your pledge, please inform the office to adjust your pledge amount in confidence. God will not will love you any less if you do and neither will we.
