WORSHIP MINISTRIES

At the heart of our community is a calling to serve. We learn from and with our neighbors, through Christ’s example.

ACOLYTES

Acolytes (from the Greek work “to follow) are children and adults who serve as crucifers, banner bearers, and torch bearers in worship.

ALTAR GUILD

The Altar Guild prepares the church for all worship services (with specific attention to the altar), including weddings, funerals, and baptisms. Members serve in pairs 4-5 times a year.

CHILDREN’S CHAPEL LEADERS

Children’s Chapel takes place on the 2nd Sunday during the 10:15 service (Sep.-May) and provides children ages 4-9 an opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate worship. Children depart during the Hymn of Praise and return at the Peace. Leaders serve in pairs approximately twice during the program year.

GREETERS

Greeters welcome parishioners before and after worship, provide information to newcomers, and direct people to the restrooms, Welcome Center, and Fellowship Hour. Starting this fall, greeters will welcome people at the edge of the sidewalk as they arrive for worship.

LECTORS

Lectors read Scripture and lead the congregation in prayer on Sundays and on special feast days.

CHALICE BEARERS

Chalice bearers serve the wine during Eucharist services. Must be a confirmed Episcopalian.

USHERS

Ushers welcome worshippers when they arrive, pass out bulletins, and help people find a seat. They also assist at the offertory and communion.
